Centres of excellence

arc is planning to establish Centres of excellence in strategic areas of research which will be decided by arc. The research areas will be where arc feels there is a need for experts and resources to be brought together to target a particular research topic. Centres may be established in response to outcomes from arc research strategy meetings.

It is envisaged that the Centres would be based in research groups who already have a strong focus on a particular area of research. It is anticipated that a Centre could apply for up to £500,000 per annum with fund matching by the host institute with up to 5 centres being established. The initial application and future renewals for Centre status would be subject to rigorous scientific review by arc.

Centres of excellence planned so far include:

  • Primary Care
  • Biomechanics and Bioengineering
