Developing and delivering education

Developing education

  • arc is committed to developing the most appropriate methods of delivering education across all its strategies
  • Such developments include the development of materials such as arc patient booklets and reports for professionals as well as the most appropriate methods to best inform those who deliver undergraduate and postgraduate curricula
  • arc is also committed to developing approaches that maximise the use of modern media and technologies to deliver on these goals. The internet is likely to become the major vehicle for disseminating up to date and appropriately layered information both to the public and the relevant professionals
  • arc aims to evaluate the performance and success of any such developments

Delivering education

arc is not the major body that delivers education to doctors and other health professionals. The activities of arc do not remove the responsibility of educational institutions from delivering their responsibilities. As an example, arc will not provide support to Medical Schools to deliver on the undergraduate curriculum in musculoskeletal diseases. It is committed to researching in the most appropriate methods of educational delivery both in terms of the material to be delivered and the optimal method of communicating it

  • arc may stimulate the development of novel courses
  • arc will consider such courses in areas of specific needs for particular groups of stakeholders. Such courses would range from short intensive courses, for example, in research methods, to longer courses, possibly leading to a diploma or other qualification
  • In such instances arc involvement would be in developing and initiating such a course but this would be run by an appropriate educational institution
