Osteoarthritis horizon scanning
In October 2006 arc held its first osteoarthritis horizon scanning meeting bringing together UK researchers and experts in the osteoarthritis field. The meeting aimed to identify key strategic research target areas, to identify and find solutions for current constraints in osteoarthritis research and to discuss how arc could assist in future research. The full report from the meeting is available here. Centralised tasks were also identified which arc could organize for the benefit of the UK osteoarthritis community. These included:
arcOGEN
This exciting project to carry out a genome-wide association scan on osteoarthritis cases was launched in October 2007 and will be led by Dr John Loughlin (Newcastle University). The project is the largest single project funded by arc. For further information click here.
Guidelines for osteoarthritis clinical studies
This working group led by Professor Phillip Conaghan aims to produce evidence-based and expert consensus guidance for the collection and reporting of clinical and related data used in future osteoarthritis studies. For further information click here.
Guidelines for osteoarthritis tissue collection and storage
This working group will establish guidelines for the collection and storage of tissue samples collected during osteoarthritis research studies. Further information will appear here when available.
Osteoarthritis inventory of datasets
The inventory of datasets has been complied from osteoarthritis patient cohorts sponsored by arc and other sources. Please click here for further information.
